Lidholm, Ingvar (1921– )

Swedish composer. From 1947 to 1956 he was conductor of the Örebro Symphony Orchestra.

He studied at the Stockholm Conservatory with, among others, Hilding Rosenberg and Tor Mann. Later he studied in Italy and France, and also with Mátyás Seiber.

Works

Opera

The Dutchman (after Strindberg, 1967).

Orchestral

concerto for string orchestra, Toccata e canto for chamber orchestra (1944), Ritornell for orchestra (1956), concertino for flute, cor anglais, oboe, and bassoon, Greetings from an Old World for orchestra (1976), Kontakion for orchestra (1978).

Vocal

De Profundis for chorus, Cantata for baritone and orchestra.

Chamber

string quartet, four pieces for cello and piano, sonata for solo flute.
