Liebknecht, Wilhelm (1826-1900)

German socialist. A friend of the communist theoretician Karl Marx, with whom he took part in the revolutions of 1848, he was imprisoned for opposition to the Franco-Prussian War 1870-71. He was one of the founders of the Social Democratic Party 1875. He was the father of Karl Liebknecht.
