Lillie, Beatrice Gladys (1898–1989)

Canadian-born English revue singer. A popular music hall figure, she is well remembered for her popular rendition of Noël Coward's ‘Mad Dogs and Englishmen’. She played to World War II troops and was honoured by former French president Charles de Gaulle. After the war Lillie also appeared in films, such as Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967).
