Limassol

Port in Akrotiri Bay, southern Cyprus; population (1993) 137,000. Products include cigarettes and wine. Richard I of England married Berengaria of Navarre here in 1191. The town's population increased rapidly with the influx of Greek Cypriot refugees after the Turkish invasion in 1974.
