Limbang

District of northwest Sarawak in eastern Malaysia, close to the Brunei border; area 2,590 sq km/1,000 sq mi; population (1990) 30,000. It is a forested valley area, with the River Limbang flowing through it. The main town is Limbang. The district contains the Mulu National Park, which is the site of the Mulu Massif containing the largest caves yet discovered in the world. Hydroelectricity projects are being developed in the area.

The main method of transport in the district is by river. Iban and other indigenous groups make up most of the population.
