Limburg an der Lahn

Limburg an der Lahn

City in the Land (administrative region) of Hesse, Germany, 35 km/22 mi northwest of Wiesbaden; population (1995) 32,900. Iron was formerly mined in the district. Industries now include the manufacture of machinery, textiles, glass, and leather. The city has a Romanesque cathedral with seven towers and notable wall-paintings of the 13th–16th centuries.

Other historic buildings include the Bishop's Palace; and the castle, home to the Lahn dukes since the 13th century and site of the Diocesan Museum.
