Lin, Chia Chiao

Lin, Chia Chiao (1916- )

Chinese-born US physicist. He made major contributions to the theory of hydrodynamic stability (1955), turbulent flow (1963), mathematics, and astrophysics. Chia Chiao Lin was born in Foochow, China. He moved to the USA to study at the California Institute of Technology, gaining his PhD in 1944. He taught at the same institution (1943-45), Brown University (1945-47), and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1947-87).
