Lindenhurst

Town in northern Illinois, 11 km/7 mi northwest of Waukegan and 68 km/41 mi northwest of the Loop (Chicago's central business district); population (1990) 8,000. It is a residential and resort community in a lake-filled area just east of the Fox River's Chain-O-Lakes.

Lindenhurst

Community in Babylon town, southeastern New York, on the southern shore of Long Island, on Great South Bay, 53 km/33 mi east of Manhattan; population (1990) 26,900. It is a industrial and residential community, producing electrical equipment, aircraft parts, and paper products. Fishing and boating are also important to the economy.
