Lindenstrand, Sylvia (1942– )

Swedish mezzo-soprano. She studied in Stockholm and made her debut at the Royal Opera there in 1962, as Olga. She made further appearances there as Marina, Dorabella, Cherubino, Octavian, Cenerentola, and Brangaene. In 1986 she sang Tchaikovsky's Maid of Orleans and in 1991 Dionysus in the premiere of Backanterna by Daniel Börtz. She has guested at Copenhagen and at the Bolshoi, Moscow. Other roles have included Dorabella (Glyndebourne, 1975, also televised); Amaranta in Haydn's Fedeltà premiata (Glyndebourne , 1979); Zerlina (Aix, 1976); and Idamantae (Drottningholm).
