Lindsay, Robert Bruce (1900-1985)

US physicist. A specialist in acoustics (particularly underwater sound), he was a prodigious writer of textbooks, encyclopedia articles, and historical and philosophical analyses of science. Lindsay was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He taught at Yale (1923-30) and Brown universities (1930-71).
