Lindsey

Small Anglo-Saxon kingdom northwest of the Wash in Eastern England. It was overshadowed by its neighbours and was ruled by Northumbria in the 7th century until it passed into Merician control 678. It was finally overrun by Danish invaders 841. It survived as the Parts of Lindsey, an administrative subdivision of the county of Lincolnshire, until the reorganization of local government 1974.
