scleroderma

In medicine, condition characterized by thickening of the skin. This results in the skin becoming hard, the joints stiffening, and a gradual wasting of the muscles. It is thought to be caused by malfunctioning of the immune system.

Linear scleroderma is another subset of the localized disease, which frequently starts as a streak or line of hardened waxy skin on an arm or leg or on the forehead.
