linocut| A relief process of printmaking. High-quality linoleum is mounted on a wood block, and the design cut into it transferred to paper by pressure or rubbing, exactly as in woodcut. Linocutting is a 20th-century development in printmaking, but despite being easy to use the process is inferior to woodcut when fine work is required. |
