Lipa

City in Batangas province on Luzon Island in the Philippines; population (1995) 177,900. It is situated in a very fertile region which produces coconuts, corn, sugar, and rice. Lipa is an inland fruit market and trade centre, and industries include clothing manufacture and food processing.
