Lisnaskea

Town in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland; population (2001) 2,700. Lisnaskea manufactures cotton thread, light clothing, and frozen foods. The ruins of Castle Balfour, built in 1618, can be seen here, and nearby is an earthwork known as the Moat, a former stronghold of the Maguire kings. The town has a museum of folk life.

Lisnaskea is named after the tree under which the Maguire chieftains used to be inaugurated.
