Lititz

Town in southeastern Pennsylvania, 13 km/8 mi north of Lancaster; population (1990) 8,300. Pretzels, first baked here in 1861, are still made. Other products include chocolate, clothing, and cigars. Tourism is important.

The town was founded in the mid-18th century by Moravians; several of their early buildings have been preserved. Organs and pianos were manufactured here in the 18th century.
