Liverpool, Charles Jenkinson, 1st Earl of (1729–1809)

English statesman. He led the ‘King's Friends’ party after Bute's retirement. He filled numerous high offices of state in the Grenville, Grafton, North, and Pitt ministries.

He was born in Winchester, and educated at Charterhouse and University College, Oxford. He was created Baron Hawkesbury in 1786, and Earl of Liverpool in 1796.
