Livingston, Philip (1716–1778)

US Revolutionary patriot. He had cultural, intellectual, and political interests and was one of the founders of King's College (later Columbia University) and New York Society Library. He served in the Continental Congress (1774–78) and signed the Declaration of Independence. Livingston was born in Albany, New York. His brothers were the politician William Livingston and the merchant and fellow Revolutionary patriot Peter Livingston.
