Village in Gwynedd, northwest Wales, 5 km/3 mi south of Harlech and about 2 km/1.2 mi from the coast; population (2001) 1,000. The ‘Roman Steps’, a rock staircase of unknown origin, lie 10 km/6 mi to the northeast.
