Llanelli

Industrial port in Carmarthenshire, south Wales, situated on Burry Inlet 16 km/10 mi northwest of Swansea; population (2001) 46,350. Industries include copper smelting, and the manufacture of tin plate, chemicals, bricks, and lenses.

Bryncaerau Castle is now a museum housing an art gallery, a pottery collection and a display showing the history of the tinplate industry. The port was closed for trading purposes in 1951.
