Lloyd, George (1913–1998)

English composer. His father wrote the libretti for his three operas, the first of which was produced in Penzance, Cornwall, in 1934 and the second at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, in 1938.

He studied violin with Albert Sammons and composition with Harry Farjeon. He was severely wounded in World War II.

Opera

Iernin (1934), The Serf (1938), and John Socman (1951).

Orchestral

12 symphonies (1932–88); four piano concertos; two violin concertos.

Choral

Symphonic Mass for chorus and orchestra (1992).
