Lobo, Alonso (c. 1555–1617)

Spanish composer. He was a choirboy at Seville Cathedral and assistant to the maestro de capilla from 1591; in 1604 he became maestro de capilla there himself. He was influenced by Giovanni da Palestrina, Tomás de Victoria, and Francisco Guerrero.

Works

Liber Primus Missarum (1602), containing six Masses and seven motets; Credo romano, three passions, Lamentations, psalms, hymns.
