Zacconi, Lodovico (1555–1627)

Italian priest and music theorist. He wrote a four-volume treatise on figured chant, Prattica di musica (1592–1622).

Zacconi went to live at Venice, joined the monastic order of St Augustine, and was maestro di cappella at its church. In 1593, at the invitation of the Archduke Charles, he went to Vienna, where he became court music director and remained until 1619, when he returned to Venice.
