Loewy, Raymond Fernand

    0.02 sec.

Loewy, Raymond Fernand (1893–1986)

French-born US designer. His work includes the S-I steam engine 1937, the Lucky Strike cigarette packet, the Silversides Greyhound bus 1940–54, and the Avanti Studebaker car 1962.

Loewy began as a fashion illustrator, and became one of the first designers to work as a freelance consultant, as well as the most famous. Most of his work was done by technical support staff – Loewy was a stylist rather than an engineering draughtsperson.
