Loftus

Small town in Redcar and Cleveland, England, 12.8 km/8mi east of Redcar; population (2001) 6,800. Though still partly agricultural, the surrounding area has long been associated with the iron and steel industries, and steel rolling is still carried out. A manor of Loftus existed before the Norman Conquest.
