Longueuil

City and administrative headquarters of Chambly County, southern Québec, Canada, on the St Lawrence River directly across from Montréal; population (1991) 129,900. It is a major residential suburb as well as an industrial centre. It manufactures food products, furniture, clothing, aircraft parts, toys, and farm machinery; there are also iron and steel plants.

Longueuil is the eastern terminus of the Montréal subway system, and the Jacques Cartier bridge provides access to the larger city.
