Lordsburg

City and administrative headquarters of Hidalgo County, in the southwestern corner of New Mexico, 32 km/20 mi east of the Arizona border and 185 km/115 mi west of Las Cruces; population (2000) 3,400. The city is in an area known for its geothermal resources. The mining ghost town of Shakespeare is to the south.
