Lotus-Eaters

In Homer's Odyssey, a mythical people living on the fruit of the lotus, which induced travellers to forget their journey home.

In historical times the Greeks encountered consumption of the lotus on the shores of northern Africa, possibly on the island of Meninx or Lotophagitis adjacent to the coast.
