Lounsbury, Floyd

Lounsbury, Floyd (1914-1994)

US linguist. He did fieldwork among the Oneida, Cherokee, and Seneca peoples and is the author of Comparative Indian Morphology. Lounsbury was born in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Educated at Yale University, he gained his PhD in 1949, and later taught there while researching linguistics and ethnology.
