Lourié, Arthur (Vincent) (1892–1966)| Russian-born US composer of French descent. He studied for a short time at the St Petersburg Conservatory, but was self-taught later. He was appointed director of the music section of the Ministry of Public Instruction in 1918, but left in 1921. He settled first in France, then, from 1941, in the USA. |
