Opera by Sergey Prokofiev (libretto by the composer, based on Carlo Gozzi's comedy Fiaba dell' amore delle tre melarancie), first produced in French translation at the Auditorium, Chicago, USA, on 30 December 1921. The March from it has become popular. In an imaginary realm the prince's melancholy is cured by the jester Truffaldino.
