Low, Archibald Montgomery

Low, Archibald Montgomery (1888-1956)

British physicist and inventor. His numerous inventions include a system of radio signalling, a television system (1914), electrical rocket control (1917), a coal fuel engine, radio torpedo control gear, the vibrometer and audiometer.

He was educated at St Paul's School, Skerry's College, Glasgow, and Imperial College, London. He was honorary assistant professor of physics at the Royal Artillery College 1919-22, and was later president of the British Institute of Engineering Technology and of the Institute of Patentees. His numerous scientific publications include over fifty works on inventions and experimentation.
