Lualdi, Adriano (1885–1971)

Italian composer and music critic. He was critic to the Secolo in Milan and in 1936 to the Giornale d'Italia in Rome. He later became director of the Naples Conservatory. He was a political conservative and supporter of Mussolini.

He studied with Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari in Venice.

operas Le nozze di Haura (1908; staged 1943), La figlia del rè (1922), Le furie del Arlecchino (1915), Il diavolo nel campanile (after Poe, 1925), La Granceola (1932); ballet Lumawig e la Saetia.

Orchestral

La leggenda del vecchio marinaio, Suite adriatica, colonial rhapsody Africa, three folk tunes Samnium for orchestra.

Solo voice and orchestra

Sire Halewyn for soprano and orchestra, La rosa di Saron for tenor and orchestra.

Chamber

string quartet in E major; violin and piano sonata.
