Luigini, Alexandre (Clément Léon Joseph) (1850-1906)

French violinist, conductor, and composer. He studied at the Paris Conservatory, became leader at the Grand Théâtre of Lyon in 1869, and its conductor in 1877. In 1897 he became conductor of the Opéra-Comique in Paris.

Opera

Faublas (after Louvet de Couvray, produced 1881) and Les Caprices de Margot (produced 1877).

Ballet

Ballet égyptien (1875).

Other

cantata Gloria victis, Ballet russe, Carnaval turc, and other light works for orchestra.
