Luisa Miller

Opera by Giuseppe Verdi (libretto by Salvatore Cammarano, based on Schiller's drama Kabale und Liebe), first produced at the Teatro San Carlo, Naples, Italy, on 8 December 1849. It tells the story of Luisa, who loves Rodolfo but is forced to declare love for Wurm in exchange for the release of her father, Miller, who has been imprisoned by Count Walther. Feeling betrayed, Rodolfo poisons Luisa and himself before learning the truth.
