Lully, Raymond (c. 1232–1315)

Spanish theologian and philosopher. He is known for his desire to convert Muslims, which led to his being stoned to death in Algeria. He also invented a mechanistic method of learning and of solving all problems by application of key fundamental notions. His followers, known as Lullists, continued this methodology and spirituality, and were accused of mixing religious mysticism with alchemy.
