Lumsdaine, David (1931– )

Australian-born British composer. Educated in Sydney, Australia, he moved to London, England, in 1952 and studied with Mátyás Seiber at the Royal Academy of Music. In 1970 he was appointed lecturer at Durham University, and founded an electronic studio there.

Works

Orchestral

Episodes (1969) and Shoalhaven (1982) for orchestra, Mandala II (1969) and III for chamber orchestra, Mandala V (1988) for orchestra.

Vocal

Easter Fresco for soprano and ensemble (1966).

Chamber

Mandala IV for string quartet (1983), Round Dance for sitar, tabla, flute, cello, and piano (1989).
