Lupu, Radu (1945– )

Romanian pianist. He favours the standard 19th-century repertory, from Schubert to Brahms, and plays with a lyrical and expressive tone.

He began studying piano at the age of six and in 1961 won a scholarship to the Moscow Conservatoire. He appeared with orchestras across Europe and the USA from the 1970s.
