Lyric Theatre Hammersmith

Theatre in Hammersmith, London, opened in 1895, with 540 seats. Under the management of Nigel Playfair 1918–33, the standard of performances was raised to compete with the West End theatres. The theatre closed down in 1966 and was refurbished and reopened in 1979.

It was designed by Victorian theatre architect Frank Matcham and was known for its acoustics. It was home to a range of dramatic and musical performances. A studio with 110 seats holds a variety of productions by smaller companies and new writers.
