m.k.s. system

System of units in which the base units metre, kilogram, and second replace the centimetre, gram, and second of the c.g.s. system. From it developed the SI system (see SI units).

It simplifies the incorporation of electrical units into the metric system, and was incorporated in SI. For application to electrical and magnetic phenomena, the ampere was added, creating what is called the m.k.s.a. system.
