MacintoshRange of microcomputers originally produced by Apple Computer. The Apple Macintosh, introduced in 1984, was the first popular microcomputer with a graphical user interface. The success of the Macintosh prompted other manufacturers and software companies to create their own graphical user interfaces. Most notable of these are Microsoft Windows, which runs on IBM PC-compatible microcomputers, and OSF/Motif, from the Open Software Foundation, which is used with many Unix systems. Apple introduced its stylish iMac computer in 1998, followed by a laptop version, the iBook, in 1999. How to thank TFD for its existence?
