Machover, Tod (1953– )

US composer and cellist. He studied with Dallapiccola in Florence and with Elliott Carter at the Juilliard School, New York. He was director of musical research at IRCAM, Paris 1980–85. In 1985 he was appointed director of Experimental Media Facility, Media Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Works

concerto for amplified guitar and ensemble (1978), Nature's Breach (1985), and Descres (1985–89), computer-generated opera Valis (first performance Paris, 2 December 1987) and Epithalamion (1990) for vocal soloists, 25 players and live and recorded electronics.
