Macomb County

Administrative district of southeastern Michigan; area 2,655 sq km/1,025 sq mi, population (1990) 717,400. The county is bounded on the southeast by Anchor Bay (an inlet of Lake St Clair) and is drained by the Clinton River. Its seat is at Mount Clemens.

Macomb County is most heavily populated where it adjoins Detroit at its southern end; here lie the city suburbs of Warren, Roseville, Sterling Heights, and St Clair Shores. Most of the county, however, is devoted to vegetable, poultry, grain, and dairy farming. It also contains a US military reservation and Selfridge Air Force Base.
