Macon County

Administrative district of central Illinois; area 1,505 sq km/581 sq mi, population (1990) 117,200. The county is divided by the Sangamon River, which flows through Decatur, its seat. Outside the communications, distribution, and manufacturing centre of Decatur, Macon County is agricultural, with soybeans and corn the main crops.
