Macready, John Arthur (1887-1979)

US aviator. A Stanford University graduate, he became the first pilot to demonstrate the potential of crop dusting in 1922. He went on to set early altitude, endurance, and distant records. He authored one of the first private pilot training manuals, directed the Shell Oil Company's aviation department, and was a cattle rancher and property developer in California. Macready was born in San Diego, California.
