Madden, Martin

Madden, Martin (Barnaby) (1855–1928)

English-born US politician. He was a self-made quarryman who opposed machine politics in Chicago, Illinois. He represented the state as a Republican in congress (1905–28), where he created the bureau of the budget. Madden was born in Darlington, England, but emigrated to the USA at the age of five.
