Madison Heights

City in Oakland County, southeastern Michigan, a suburb of Detroit 16 km/10 mi north of the city centre; population (1990) 32,200.

The area around Madison Heights was inhabited in the late 17th century by French Jesuit missionaries; other settlers arrived in 1818. It is now a residential, business, and industrial community, which manufactures car parts, tools and dies, and aerospace components.

Madison Heights

Community in Amherst County, west-central Virginia; population (1990) 11,700. Madison Heights is sited across the James River immediately northeast of the city of Lynchburg, of which it is a suburb.
