In Christian art, a depiction of the enthroned Madonna and Child surrounded by angels and saints. Examples include Duccio's Maestà Altarpiece, (1309–11, Cathedral Museum, Siena) and Giotto's Madonna Enthroned (c. 1310, Uffizi, Florence).
