Magaloff, Nikita (1912–1994)

Russian-born Swiss pianist. He studied piano with Isodor Philipp at the Paris Conservatory, and composition with Prokofiev. Although he began his career as accompanist to the violinist Szigeti, he later turned to solo work. In 1949 he succeeded Lipatti as professor of piano at the Geneva Conservatory. He was well known for his performances of Ravel, Prokofiev, and Stravinsky.
