Magna

Community in Salt Lake County, northern Utah; population (1990) 17,800. It is a suburb of Salt Lake City, and is situated 16 km/10 mi to the southwest.

Copper mining began in Magna in 1906, and the Kennecott concern maintains a huge non-ferrous smelting plant here. Aerospace components are also manufactured. Grain, sugar beets, and fruit are grown in the area.
